Program

Sessions, keynotes, and the call for papers for the 2027 meeting.

Schedule

The full program.

The detailed schedule of sessions is published here once submissions have been reviewed and the sessions are finalized.

The conference will feature three days of paper and poster sessions and two keynote lectures with time for discussion. A special highlight of the conference will be a session dedicated to Paula England’s work and contributions to the study of inequality. The program will also include a panel on artificial intelligence and inequality, alongside Research Match, a networking event that pairs participants who haven’t yet met.

Call for papers

The call in brief

RC28, the Research Committee on Social Stratification and Mobility of the International Sociological Association, invites scholars working on social stratification and social mobility to contribute to its 2027 Spring Meeting, held at NYU Abu Dhabi on April 15–17, 2027. The call for papers has the full invitation.

Global Crossroads: Inequality and Mobility in Transition

The theme reflects both the intellectual agenda of RC28 and the location of the meeting. Abu Dhabi is a global crossroads connecting Europe, Asia, Africa, and the wider Middle East, and the theme invites reflection on how social stratification, inequality, and mobility are being reshaped in rapidly changing societies.

The submission portal opens on October 9, 2026 and closes on December 15, 2026. Decisions are sent and registration opens on January 7, 2027. Participation in RC28 meetings requires active RC28 membership — see how to join RC28 (opens in a new tab).

Each submission needs a short abstract and an extended abstract of 2–4 pages or up to 1,000 words. A full paper is optional.

Accepted contributions are normally presented in parallel paper sessions or in poster sessions. You indicate on the submission form whether you would like to be considered for a paper presentation, a poster presentation, or both. Practical instructions for presenters, including poster dimensions, are sent with the acceptance notifications.
